More than a school: a December of dialogue, solidarity and tradition at the Ateneu

More than a school: A December of dialogue, solidarity, and tradition at the Ateneu

At the Ateneu School, we believe that education goes far beyond the classrooms. Educating is sharing, empathizing with the environment, and above all, walking together — families, students, and teaching staff. This December has been the perfect reflection of this philosophy, with a full agenda of events that have strengthened our bonds and our social commitment.

1. The Pedagogical Café: Spaces that build bridges

Fluid communication with families is one of the pillars of our center. Recently, we celebrated a new edition of our PEDAGOGICAL Cafe, where the families of I3, 1st Primary, and 1st ESO gathered with the teaching team.

More than a meeting, these gatherings are close and calm spaces that allow us to:

  • Listen and share concerns in a relaxed environment.

  • Identify improvements for the daily lives of students.

  • Build a common vision on the education of children and young people.

Thanks to the active participation of everyone, we continue to weave a support network that directly benefits the development of our students.

2. Solidarity with La Marató: Educating in Commitment

Education in values is demonstrated by actions. That is why the Ateneu community has come together with La Marató de 3Cat 2025, this year dedicated to cancer research.

In the classrooms, we have worked on raising awareness to understand the impact of this disease, while the students and staff of the center have contributed with charitable donations. We are convinced that teaching to get involved in social causes is the best way to educate conscious and committed citizens for a better future.

3. Voices, Emotion, and Desires: The Christmas Carols Cantata of the Ateneu

There are moments that mark the school calendar, but few are as emotional as our traditional Caroling Cantata. This year, the schoolyard has once again filled with music, transforming into the stage of an unforgettable morning where the students of Primary and 1st of ESO have been the main protagonists.

Preparing a cantata is not just about learning lyrics; it is an exercise in rehearsal, coordination, and personal growth. The result has been a gift for the senses: a courtyard full of smiles, tuned voices, and, above all, the excitement of sharing with families the best wishes for this festive season.

These events remind us that our community is special thanks to the contribution of every child and every family. Thank you for joining us and making music connect us all once again.

And in your home, what is the Christmas song that keeps playing? Share your holiday soundtrack with us in the comments!

4. Visits that fill the eyes with illusion: Mag Sadurní and Joana at school

The magic of Christmas has come right through the door of the Ateneu with a very special visit: Mag Sadurní and Joana came to see us to tell us the secrets of the most magical journey of the year, that of the Three Wise Men.

The students experienced the encounter with a mix of curiosity and contained emotion. Listening to the details of how Their Majesties prepare to arrive at all the houses, we could see in the children's eyes the importance of keeping the fantasy alive.

At school, we believe that preserving this innocence and ability to be surprised is essential for happy growth. Feeling the Kings so close helps us experience these dates with a unique intensity and appreciate the tradition from the heart.

What is the moment of the Three Kings Night that excites your little ones the most? We love reading your anecdotes!

5. The Tió in Preschool: Caring for Our Most Beloved Traditions

If there is a moment that defines the authenticity of Christmas in preschool, it is undoubtedly the day of making the Tió poop. After many days of daily care, bringing him the best fruit peels and covering him well with the blanket so he wouldn't be cold, the culminating moment has arrived.

Between songs and energetic beats of the stick, our Tió has done its job, provoking explosions of laughter and surprises among the little ones. Beyond the gifts, this tradition allows us to work on fundamental values:

  • Care: The attention and respect for a being that "visits us."

  • Patience: Knowing how to wait for the right moment for the celebration.

  • Community: Experiencing the collective joy of sharing such a personal tradition.

Seeing how traditions pass from child to child is the best gift we can receive.

And you, what forbidden food do you give to the Tió at home? Share your secrets for making him poop more than ever!

Looking towards the future

All these experiences remind us that the Ateneu School is a lively and vibrant community thanks to each and every one of you. We thank you for your participation in the cafés, your generosity in charitable causes, and your presence at every celebration.

And for you, which of these moments touched your heart the most? What topics would you like us to cover in the upcoming pedagogical coffee meetings? Leave us your comments below!
