Autumn of celebrations and projects! Community magic at Ateneu Sant Joan Despí

October and the beginning of autumn filled Ateneu Sant Joan Despí with music, costumes, creativity and a strong community spirit. A vibrant period showing our commitment to tradition, innovation and fun!

Here’s a summary of the highlights we shared with the whole Ateneu family:

1. Chestnut Festival (Castanyada) 🌰🎶

Chestnut Festival at school

We celebrated one of our most beloved traditions with our signature joy. Early Years and Primary pupils enjoyed a festive morning full of music, dances and shared activities.

Of course, the delicious aroma of roasted chestnuts was present thanks to the traditional sale by our AFA (Families Association). The icing on the cake was the visit of the funniest “Castanyera” in town, who filled the day with magic and smiles.

These traditions bring our community together!

2. Night of Terror at Ateneu: Halloween arrives! 🎃👻

Halloween at Ateneu

On 30 and 31 October, mystery and fun took over the school!

Secondary students showcased their creativity (and their scariest side) by preparing a spooky Tunnel of Terror — always a hit.

Meanwhile, Early Years and Primary enjoyed themed activities organised by the English department, ensuring the “scary fun” reached all ages.

Two days packed with costumes, laughter, and living Halloween creatively as a community.

3. Imagination takes shape: Collaborative story presentation 📖✨

Collaborative story presentation

We’re very proud of our Year 6 Primary students, who attended the official presentation of the collaborative story they helped create last year.

This project, carried out with other schools in Sant Joan Despí, is a fantastic experience that combines:

  • Creativity and imagination.
  • Teamwork and collaboration.
  • A passion for reading and writing.

Seeing their imagination in print is a huge thrill — and a lasting memory!

4. Ateneu in the community: Associations Day 🎉🤖

Associations Day

We took to the streets to be close to families and neighbours in Sant Joan Despí. Associations Day was an excellent opportunity for everyone to get to know the spirit and offering of our school.

Our stand was a success thanks to a creative badge-making workshop where, following the spirit of our end-of-year party, we offered the option to generate badges with AI‑customised images. Technology, creativity and community — all in one!
