Baccalaureate

The baccalaureate is a post-compulsory stage lasting two years.

Its purpose is to provide students with training, intellectual and human maturity, knowledge, and skills that allow them to develop social functions and join active life with responsibility and competence.

Allows access to further studies:

  • University (with the passing of University Access Tests)
  • Higher Level Training Cycles

Ateneu offers two lines per course, distributed by itineraries:

  • Science and Technology
  • Humanities and Social Sciences

The number of students is lower than the baccalaureate ratio per classroom.

Schedule

The schedule is intensive in the morning, from 8:00h to 14:35h

*Possibility of teaching one afternoon a week

Common Subjects

The common subjects of the baccalaureate aim to deepen the general education of students, increase their intellectual and human maturity, and deepen those general competencies that have a more transversal character and favor learning. Thus, students must take the common subjects, subjects that baccalaureate students take regardless of the modality they have chosen.

Continuous Assessment

  • The learning process is evaluated through assignments, exercises, and exams (partial and quarterly) and is reported periodically throughout the course.
  • 2 Quarterly Reports (Partial and Quarterly Assessment)
  • The evaluation criteria for each subject are set by the different departments of each specialty.
  • The exam periods are set from September to facilitate students organizing their study time.

Course Completion

Students must pass all subjects taken during the stage. They have different opportunities to pass failed subjects in quarterly recovery exams and in global exams at the end of the course, where they can also appear to raise the final grade.

Tutorial Action and Academic Guidance

Students have 1 hour of weekly tutoring, in addition to individualized interviews and interviews with families that allow academic, emotional, social, and personal monitoring of our students. Orientation activities are also carried out to make decisions regarding the continuity of their studies or access to the labor market, considering their interests and skills.

Research Project

During the baccalaureate stage, our students take the subject Orientation Tutoring for the Research Project, from which guidelines are given to carry out the work and it becomes a point where they can share their opinions, difficulties, and concerns regarding research. The Research Project represents 10% of the baccalaureate stage. For this reason, in addition to having an individual tutor specialized in the field in which the student does the work, they also have an orientation tutor who will accompany them throughout the process.

Outings and Workshops

We carry out outings related to the baccalaureate curriculum and academic orientation to help students in choosing further studies. Throughout the two courses, workshops and talks are organized to promote solidarity, empathy, respect, and coexistence in society. (Myths of romantic love, sexual violence, External Walls, Anxiety, Road Education…)

Excellence Scholarships

Ateneu provides 3 scholarships to 4th ESO students from Ateneu who have the best qualification (within the excellence range, that is, between 9-10) to access post-compulsory baccalaureate studies at the same center. These scholarships are reviewed at the end of the 1st year of baccalaureate and may change beneficiaries in the 2nd year of baccalaureate.

Project "Live the Profession"

Students interested in studying Early Childhood or Primary Education, Psychology, or who want to be ESO teachers, have the opportunity to accompany professionals in the afternoons to approach the professional reality, observe and analyze the functioning of student groups and the various components of the teaching-learning process.
